Dublin’s Dáil was adjourned on Thursday as police continued their investigation into the death of a seven-year-old boy who was found dead on Friday.
The boy was found at St Patrick’s High School in the city’s western suburbs on Friday morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor at St Mary’s Hospital, Dublin.
A garda spokesman said an autopsy would be carried out on the body and an investigation was ongoing.
The child was found alone and in his bedroom, near a wall of the school.
His mother told gardaí the boy had suffered from “some kind of illness”.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
The incident came just weeks after a seven year-old girl was found murdered in her Dublin home.
She was stabbed and strangled to death.
The case was later re-opened after an 18-year gap.
