GREENES — A new study finds that eating more greens daily can help you feel better, even when you’re still struggling with a chronic illness.
And the findings aren’t limited to just the greens.
Green tea also seems to help boost metabolism, as well as protect against chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
But it may not be the only reason for the benefits.
In the latest issue of the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, scientists from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and the University at Albany analyzed more than 3,000 adults who participated in a clinical trial at the University Health System.
The study found that those who ate less than half a cup of green tea a day had significantly lower levels of inflammation in their blood, as measured by levels of red blood cells and platelets.
This is important, said the study’s lead author, Dr. Jill K. McQuillan, an associate professor of medicine at the UW-Madison and the university’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Mcquillan said green tea’s anti-inflammatory properties also appear to benefit other conditions.
She said people who drink the beverage in moderation also tend to have fewer chronic illnesses, such as arthritis or arthritis-related conditions.
“We’ve also shown that green tea has been shown to help with a number of inflammatory conditions,” she said.
The researchers said that a daily cup of a green tea product called Green Tea Blend, for example, is a good source of antioxidants, fiber and protein.
“That’s good for your heart, and your muscles, and overall health,” said Dr. Jennifer R. Fisch, a professor of nutrition and public health at the U-M Department of Medicine.
The benefits of green leafy vegetables and supplements are not limited to the foods you eat.
“If you’re looking at supplementing greens with vitamins and minerals, the research shows that they’re also beneficial,” McQuills said.
“There’s a lot of evidence that green leaf vegetables, for instance, have anti-oxidant properties.”
In fact, green leaf is a key component of the Japanese green tea leaf, which has been touted as a way to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer.
Green leaf vegetables are high in vitamins, fiber, protein and iron, as they help to maintain a healthy diet, the study noted.
But some people don’t eat enough green leaf or supplements.
Some experts say that’s because they have an unhealthy diet, too much exercise, or a medical condition.
The green tea plant is one of the world’s most popular vegetables, and the U.S. is one the top producers, according to the U.-S of A. And while green tea may be a natural source of nutrients, the scientific research shows there’s also more to green leaf than just the nutritional benefits.
Dr. Peter B. Green, a nutritional scientist and a professor at the School of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University, said that the green leaf can also be helpful in preventing cancer.
He noted that research shows people who consume enough green leaves have reduced levels of the tumor suppressor gene, known as TSC1.
The TSC gene is a chemical that inhibits cancer cells from spreading.
It also regulates the immune system, helping protect people against the virus.
Green is known to be effective against cancer, but it can also lower the immune response and help people who have cancer fight off the virus, Green said.
He also noted that the effects of green may not last forever, especially if you’re overweight.
But Green said that even if you don’t use green, you can still eat a balanced diet that includes a variety of green vegetables, including green beans, spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccoli.
For example, a study published in the journal PLOS ONE found that people who ate a balanced, whole-grain diet had a lower risk of heart disease than people who didn’t.
And a 2013 study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables may help lower cholesterol levels and help prevent some types of cancer.
But McQuillin said it’s important to remember that these are all lifestyle choices.
“I think what is so important about this study is that the benefits of eating a green diet extend to the body, to the brain, to your immune system,” she explained.
“Green tea is a super-food, and we should eat as much of it as we possibly can, whether it’s green tea or other foods that are also super-nutritious.”
