Tale of three mugshots for Montana’s Nathan Greene

The man wanted for murder in the killing of two men in a Montana gas station was shot dead by a man he had met through a Craigslist ad.

Nathan Greene, 33, was arrested Sunday and died after police said he shot himself while on the ground in a wooded area about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Missoula, Montana.

Greene was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in January.

He was charged with the deaths of John Lee, 58, and John Thomas, 61, but the charges were dropped last month after Greene agreed to a plea deal.

A federal grand jury in Helena also indicted Greene on one count of murder on Feb. 1.

Greene’s mugshot, taken shortly before his arrest, shows the bearded, balding man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses and sporting an aloof look.

A short video of Greene is embedded below: He’s the son of former NFL player and former Missoulan Mayor Jim Greene, according to the Missoulian newspaper.

In addition to his football career, Greene also worked as a mechanic for a gas station and lived in a trailer with his wife and two sons.

Greene, who also went by the nickname “Tara” in the media, is known for his work as a security guard at a Missoulans home and as a musician.

His LinkedIn profile lists him as a professor of criminology at Montana State University.
